Enduro Trails Bielsko-Biała

The Enduro Trails mountain bike trail complex is located in the City of Bielsko-Biała. It is a network of one-way bike trails or so-called singletracks. These popular mountain bike trails are twisty, narrow and undulating with varied levels of difficulty, from the gently descending easier trails to the steep and technical downhills. Most of the trails were built for the Enduro racing event periodically held here (hence the name of the complex).

The trail centre (with tourist information and surrounding facilities) is located at the foot of Kozia Góra (the City’s recreational area is called “Błonia”). The trails are scatterred between Szyndzielnia and Kozia Góra (in the Klimczok mountain massif). Szyndzielnia rises up to the height of 1030 metres above sea level. The peak can be reached by a modern gondola lift. Kozia Góra is a smaller hill (686 m a.s.l.) with a rich tourist culture. The longest toboggan run in Europe used to operate here.(the structures are still clearly visible). On both mountains you can also find cozy huts dating back to the 19th century.

The trail contains several natural and artifical obstacles such as: the famous root section, berms, rollable sections, small jumps. It begins close to the mountain hut (pol. schronisko) and the start of the old sledge track (approximately 45 minutes form the trailcenter) and finishes by the trailcenter. It requires a variety of advanced riding skills and bike controlling at high speed (the trail is very fast!).

Interesting fact

The upper part of the trail used to be a green hiking trail, hence its name. “old green”. It is a much loved trail by the Bielsko-Biała MTB community. The hiking trail now runs along the historic toboggan run just a few metres below.

It starts at the beginning of the main gravel road (approximately 5 minutes from the Trailcenter) and finishes by the tennis courts in “Cygański Las” (15 minutes from the Trailcenter). Twisty, not too fast, yet relatively flowy, with lots of technical elements and natural obstacles (e.g. slippery roots) – the roll-able bits on the lower section form a kind of a “pumptrack”. It begins at the top of Kozia Góra (approximately 45 minutes from the Trail centre) and finishes in “Cygański Las” (close to the public school at Pocztowa street, 10 minutes from the Trail centre). The trail requires a high level of experience on natural, demanding mountain terrain.

Just before reaching the start we pass the ruins of an old bower called „Steffansruhe” in German, hence some would still use the ame “Stefanka” instead of “Kozia Góra”, http://www.historia.beskidia.pl/?modul=wehikul&typ=wehikul&id=1194 )

Opis

Gently ascending, twisty uphill trail which provides a more pleasant way to reach the top of the mountain. A few technical, rocky shortcuts are built in the lower section for those who like a bit more challenge. At the very end of the trail there is a short and steep fire-road however the beautiful sights will make up for the final effort. The uphill starts by the Trail centre (behind the fence), yet the actual machine-built single track starts a bit higher (on the main gravel road) and finishes on the eastern peak of Kozia Gora.

Lower parts of the trail are twisting through gigantic Beech and Douglas trees. The latter (“Daglezja” in polish) are actually some of the tallest trees in the world (https://www.wikiwand.com/pl/Daglezja_zielona). Despite the fact of it being introduced from North America, the biggest Douglas threes in Cygański Las are considered “monuments of nature” (they are really impressive!).

Very technical, natural trail with lots of rock sections in the upper part and roots in the lower. There is one short but very steep, rocky corridor (unavoidable!). This trail begins conjoined with the red trail “Cygan”, it turns left after 400 meters and finishes in „Olszówka” (about 20 minutes from the Trail centre). The trail requires high quality riding skills on very demanding natural terrain.

In the middle section the trail passes through a interesting looking pile of rocks, most likely an old quarry (stone-pit, “kamieniołom” in polish), unfortunately its history is unknown to us

It begins at a scenic clearing by the upper station of the gondola (with a spectacular view of the city) and finishes at the „Dylówki” pass. The clearing at the start of the trail also used to be the beginning of a no longer existing sking slope called “Sahara” (one of the most difficult in the country).

Description

The longest trail that will connnect “Szyndzielnia” mountain with “Kozia Góra” (under construction at the moment). It is possible to reach the top of Szyndzielnia either by a long uphill (takes about an hour) or by a Gondola lift! The longest run will be more than 11 kilometres of nice singletrack descent from Szyndzialnia and Kozia Góra to the Trailceter (with nearly 700m of elevation drop!).
